Caroline Esmeralda van der Leeuw (b. 26 April 1981 in Amsterdam), best known by her stage name, Caro Emerald, is a Dutch jazz singer. She debuted on 6 July 2009 with her single «Back It Up». Her debut album Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor set a new all-time chart record on 20 August 2010, spending its 30th week at number one on the Dutch album chart, beating the previous record set by Michael Jackson’s Thriller by one week.[1] The album has become the biggest selling album of 2010 in the Netherlands, selling over 300,000 copies so far. In total more than a million copies have been sold so far. On 3 October 2010, Van der Leeuw was awarded the Dutch Music Prize «Edison Award» for Best Female Artist.

Beanie Sigel – Feel It In The Air

Dwight Grant (born March 6, 1974), [1] better known by his stage name Beanie Sigel, is an American rapper[2] from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a former member/artist of Dame Dash Music Group and Roc-A-Fella Records where he had formed a close association with rappers Jay-Z, Freeway and other former and current artists on the Roc-A-Fella roster. His stage name comes from a street in South Philadelphia, the rapper’s former stomping grounds where he worked alongside Senior Durham in the projects. He has sold more than two million albums worldwide. During a controversial period, Beanie Sigel recorded a song dissing his former boss and mentor Jay-Z on the track «I Go Off» with 50 Cent who had signed Grant to his G-Unit Records label in 2009.[3] In early 2011 Grant appeared in Travis Barker‘s album Give the Drummer Some, saying that it was the end of his career. In May 31, 2011 Grant apologized to his former boss Jay-Z. But in an interview with DJ Green Lantern, he said that he had never «apologized» to Jay-Z, and that he was still making music.[4]

Her first album, La Llorona, went platinum in Canada and brought Lhasa a Félix Award and a Juno Award.

Subway feat 702 – This Lil’ Game We Play

The Chicago-based group Subway, was composed of Eric McNeal, Keith Thomas, Trerail Puckett and Roy Jones. The group was signed by Michael Bivins (of New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe) to his Motown-distributed label Biv 10. They came on the scene in 1995 with the hit single «This Lil’ Game We Play» featuring labelmates 702 that reached #15 on the Billboard charts. The song was produced and written by Gerald Levert and Edwin Nicholas and was billed as «Subway featuring 702». The single set the group off to a good start, going gold and selling nearly a million copies.

Their debut album was titled Good Times and was released later that year. The cover art and title of the album was inspired by the same-named CBS hit sitcom of the ’70s. Written and produced by Gerald Levert and Edwin Nicholas, the album packed some solid hits such as the aforementioned «This Lil’ Game We Play.»

Jill Scott (born April 4, 1972) is a Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter, actress and poet. Since 1999, Scott has made a reputation for being a classic, thought provoking artist gained by her 2000 multi-platinum selling debut, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1. Their followups Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 released in 2004, and The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 released in 2007 both achieved gold status. Yerba Buena – «Guajira»

Yerba Buena is a Grammy-nominated fusion band based out of New York. The project was started by Venezuelan songwriter, producer and instrumentalist Andres Levin, and Singer, Composer Cucu Diamantes who brought Cuban composer Descemer Bueno to New York. All worked together during the conception of the band, but soon after Bueno left the group to pursue a solo career. The original lineup included Cuban singer Percussionist Pedro Martinez and singer Xiomara Laugart.

Yerba Buena’s music (as described by Razor and Tie, the band’s record label) is a blend of African-rooted Latin music (Cuban Rumba, Colombian cumbia, Pan-Caribbean Soca, and Cuban Boogaloo) with hip-hop, Motown soul, West African Afrobeat with a dash of Middle Eastern themes.

Prior to the release of their album President Alien, Yerba Buena collaborated with Me’Shell NdegéOcello on a track titled «Gentleman» for the Red Hot Organization‘s tribute compilation album for Fela Kuti, Red Hot and Riot. They also appeared on a track called «Colonial Mentality» for the CD. The Paul Heck produced album was critically acclaimed and donated all its proceeds to various AIDS charities.

Mads Langer (born 1984, Skive) is a Danish singer and singer-songwriter, who became internationally known for his cover of «You’re Not Alone» by the British band Olive.[1] While that song is cheerful, his own songs are frequently typified as emotional guitar ballads,[2] because many of them are in a minor scale and have a melancholic feel to them. He has explained that even when he tries to write an uplifting song, it often ends up being a sad song,[3] even though he does consider himself to be an optimist rather than an emotional person[4] and says about himself that he is not that sensitive but rather a very tough guy.[3] Langer also writes more powerful songs and performs various songs on piano. His third studio album Behold was released on 9 May 2011.
